Pulmon-EZ SUMMARY:
During intense exercise, excessive blood pressure inside arteries in a
horse's lungs can cause the walls of small blood vessels to rupture.
This causes "bleeding."
Intense exercise depletes a horse's body of chemical messengers called
neurotransmitters needed to keep blood vessels in the lungs relaxed and
open. One of the most important of these substances is nitric oxide.
When nitric oxide is depleted by intense exercise, blood pressure within
the lungs can rise excessively causing Exercise Induced Pulmonary
Hemorrhage (EIPH) or "bleeding."
To minimize "bleeding" it is essential to replenish depleted chemicals
that are necessary to control blood pressure in the lungs. Pulmon-EZ™ is
a nutritional supplement designed to help minimize "bleeding" by
promoting production of neurotransmitters needed for regulating blood
pressure in the lungs.
IMPORTANT:
Anti-inflammatory drugs such as Banamine or "Bute" (phenylbutazone),
and certain herbs block formation of nitric oxide. They will inhibit Pulmon-EZ™
effectiveness.
All anti-inflammatory drugs and all other supplements are to be stopped
for at least the first 4-weeks of using Pulmon-EZ™.
Post-race “bleeding” (exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage, or EIPH),
affects the vast majority of Thoroughbred and Standardbred racehorses.
In addition, EIPH frequently occurs in hunter-jumpers and other horses
performing intense exercise in events, steeplechases, and polo. It is
commonly believed by jockeys, drivers, trainers, and owners that EIPH
has a substantial negative affect on race performance.
“Bleeding” is believed to be caused by leakage of blood from pulmonary
capillaries when pulmonary arterial pressure increases to high levels
due to intense exercise. Nitric oxide is a gaseous molecule produced in
the lungs that plays a crucial role in regulating pulmonary vascular
tone during exercise. Nitric oxide relaxes the walls of pulmonary blood
vessels and decreases capillary pressure.

Nitric oxide has been shown to reduce the high levels of pulmonary
artery pressure that are believed to cause Exercise Induced Pulmonary
Hemorrhage (EIPH). An intensely exercising horse must be able to produce
large amounts of nitric oxide in order to minimize “bleeding.”
Now there is a product that is designed to provide essential nutritional
support for "bleeders." Pulmon-EZ™ is a nutritional supplement that is
designed to promote equine lung health by supporting production of
nitric oxide.
Nitric oxide is synthesized in the body from its nutrient precursor, the
amino acid arginine. Attempts to increase nitric oxide production by
administering large quantities of arginine have met with limited
success. Additionally, administering substantial amounts of arginine may
have undesirable side effects, either through stimulating insulin
release or by affecting other mechanisms.
There has been a need for a way to increase the amount of nitric oxide
produced within the body using relatively small doses of arginine.
Achieving these previously unattainable results was made possible
through the development of a proprietary product formulation
methodology, known as NPS.
NPS™ stands for "Neurotransmitter Production Support". This approach to
product formulation is designed to systematically promote synergistic
interactions of specific ingredients. For example, in addition to
promoting nitric oxide production, Pulmon-EZ™ contains selected
bioflavonoids to help minimize the weakening of capillary walls from
oxidative damage.
Pulmon-EZ™ provides the nutrients a horse’s body needs to form
neurotransmitters that promote blood flow in the lungs. Pulmon-EZ™
combines selected neurotransmitter-precursors with all-natural
ingredients that support neurotransmitter synthesis.
IMPORTANT: Pulmon-EZ™ must be administered when the horse’s stomach is
as empty as possible. This is essential to promote rapid absorption of
the ingredients in their intended proportions in order to produce the
desired effect.
Pulmon-EZ™ contains no drugs or racing-prohibited ingredients.
The damage to a bleeder's lungs becomes progressively worse over time.
Don't allow your horse to suffer needlessly.
IMPORTANT:
Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage (EIPH) or "Bleeding" indicates
that a horse is unable to produce sufficient nitric oxide for its
lifestyle. In many ways, "bleeding" is very similar to diabetes in
humans, (which also involves insufficient production of nitric oxide).
A person with diabetes requires life-long treatment because giving
someone insulin does not cure the problem, it only compensates for it.
You would not expect a diabetic to be able to stop taking insulin after
using it for a month or two.
In the same way, a "bleeder" needs nutritional support for the rest of
its life.
Without ongoing supplementation, any horse that recovers from post-race
bleeding and resumes its prior lifestyle is almost certain to have the
problem return. If your horse is a "bleeder" think of it as being
diagnosed with diabetes. The condition can be successfully managed with
life-long care, but not cured.
