SUMMARY: ImmunoPLUS™
A horse's ability to fight disease-causing organisms depends on being
able to produce large amounts of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is used by
the white blood cells to kill viruses, fungi, bacteria, and other
pathogens.
Proper functioning of the immune system requires nitric oxide in large
amounts. Nitric oxide is depleted by a horse's efforts to fight off
disease-causing organisms it encounters. Insufficient production of
nitric oxide can drastically decrease a horse's ability to fight
infection.
ImmunoPlus™ is a nutritional supplement designed to support a horse's
immune system by promoting nitric oxide production.
IMPORTANT:
Anti-inflammatory drugs such as Banamine or "Bute" (phenylbutazone),
and certain herbs block formation of nitric oxide. They will inhibit ImmunoPlus™
effectiveness. All anti-inflammatory drugs
and all other supplements are to be stopped for at least the first
4-weeks of using ImmunoPlus™.
Nitric oxide plays a crucial role in the immune system and is utilized
as an effector molecule by macrophages to kill fungi, viruses, bacteria,
protozoa, helminths, and rickettsiae. If an animal's ability to
produce nitric oxide is reduced, it impairs the animals ability to fight
infection. Increased exposure to pathogens, increases an animal's
need to produce nitric oxide.
Nitric oxide can be depleted by an animal's efforts to resist infection.
Additionally, certain pathogens defend themselves against attack by
macrophages by releasing chemicals such as aflatoxin, which inhibit the
release of nitric oxide. In either case, to maximize an animal's
ability to fight pathogenic organisms it is important to support
production of nitric oxide.
Since nitric oxide dilates blood vessels and is involved in a variety of
other functions affecting every system of the body, depletion of nitric
oxide can have far ranging adverse effects. During pregnancy nitric
oxide is needed to insure proper blood supply to the placenta and the
developing fetus. Since nitric oxide is needed for proper blood flow
throughout the gastrointestinal system, insufficient levels of nitric
oxide could adversely affect a foal's growth and development.
Due to the complexity of the immunological processes involved in
defending against pathogens, conventional approaches to developing
vaccines against infection have met with limited success. The
development of infection-fighting agents has now begun to focus on
effector molecules such as nitric oxide. Rather than attempting to
mimic the body's immune responses with antibiotics or other synthetic
agents, supporting an animal's innate immune mechanisms may produce
better results.
Nitric oxide is produced by macrophages from the amino acid arginine. ImmunoPlus™ is a dietary supplement that combines arginine
with a proprietary blend of all-natural ingredients that is designed to
promote production of nitric oxide. Promoting production of nitric oxide
supports a horse’s ability to fight fungi, viruses, bacteria, protozoa,
helminths, and rickettsiae.
ImmunoPlus™ contains no drugs or racing-prohibited ingredients.
